Biography

Gwenllian ferch Llywelyn was born about 1386, Radur, Meisgyn, Glamorgan, Wales, died about 1463 Clifford Castle, Herefordshire, England

Research Notes

Original profile lists DOB as 1387, with no sources. However, father died in 1386, which produces a DB error. Yet, these dates are actually possible if she was born early in 1387.

Hi there,

Ferch (not Verch) means "daughter of" it is not a forename

Please can you change the LNAB to ferch not verch, the latter is an anglicization of ferch, there is no letter V in Welsh. Many transcriptions in English records have verch, but as part of the Wales Project we are endeavouring to get some consistency. Please note it is ferch lower case, not capitalized.

If you do not have pre-1500 accreditation please include me as a manager on the Profile and I will do it for you,

Many thanks, Steve
